Here are some ways to join in:

Volunteers with FCS Food PantryFood Pantry

  • Volunteer as a pantry tender, helping customers choose their food
  • Organize a neighborhood, family or workplace food drive
  • Conduct a fundraiser (re: No Empty Plate); all monetary donations are
    matched anonymously
  • Help with special projects
  • Become a pantry sub to cover vacations, illness, etc.

  • Help sort donations
  • Assist customers in the gift shop (3 hr. flexible shifts)
  • Help organize the boutique

  • Join "Read To Succeed" and become a volunteer reader to children in child care homes, 1 hour/week
  • Become a buddy, visiting a community elder
  • Adopt a person to do snow shoveling for this winter
  • Take a home-bound senior shopping
  • Help winterize a local home; we will provide the training
  • Organize a fundraiser for the Carol Kaplan Emergency Fuel Fund
  • Volunteer to give rides to medical appointments

Read to Succeed

During the Holidays

  • Prepare a family food box for Thanksgiving or Holiday Helpline
  • Adopt a family to purchase gifts for during Holiday Helpline
  • Wrap gifts at L.L. Bean during December
  • Volunteer to organize/label gifts, prepare packages and give out gifts during Holiday Helpline (3-hr shifts)
  • Bake treats for volunteers during Holiday Helpline
