Volunteer Application
If you have a few hours a month, here are some way to help
Food Pantry:
Volunteer as a pantry tender, helping customers choose their food
Organize a neighborhood, family or workplace food drive
Conduct a fundraiser (re: No Empty Plate); all monetary donations are matched anonymously
Help with special projects
Become a pantry sub to cover vacations, illness, etc.
Thrift Shop:
Help sort donations
Assist customers in the gift shop (3 hr. flexible shifts)
Help organize the boutique
Manage EBay sales
Help with paperwork
Save Shaw's Supermarket receipts for the shop
Your Neighbors:
Become a buddy, visiting a lonely community elder
Adopt a person to do snow shoveling for this winter
Join Read To Succeed and become a volunteer reader to children in child care homes, one hour a week
Take a home-bound senior shopping
Help winterize a local home; we will provide the training
Organize or join a fund raiser for the Carol Kaplan Emergency Fuel Fund
Volunteer to give rides to medical appointments
During the Holidays:
Prepare a family food box for Thanksgiving or Holiday Helpline
Adopt a family to purchase gifts for during Holiday Helpline
Wrap gifts at LLBean during December
Volunteer to organize/label gifts, prepare packages and give out gifts during Holiday Helpline (3-hr shifts)
Bake treats for volunteers during Holiday Helpline
Special Projects:
Painting, construction, maintenance projects
Photographing events
Video recording events
Distribution of flyers, materials
Become a coffee shop volunteer (cooking, serving, and/or clean up)
Become a committee member
